Faith Information

Formation is an organic, life-long, and holistic process involving right thinking, right behaviors, and right feelings of individuals and communities.

Christian spiritual formation is the process of being conformed to the image of Jesus Christ for the glory of God and for the sake of others (II Corinthians 3:17-18). The focus of spiritual formation is the Holy Spirit, who guides the ongoing journey towards union with God. We believe to be formed by the Holy Spirit in this way requires both participation and Intentionality.

Religious formation could be compared to the growing process of a tree or the process of constructing a house. As everything is vital in the growing process of a tree, so also the different aspects of formation are very important. We experience God as embodied human beings. This experience includes our minds, what we know and also our emotions, will, personality and body.

The main purpose of formation is to discover one's vocation and to shape one's life in accordance with the charism and the spirituality of the congregation. The process of formation involves several steps that may vary depending upon the congregation.

Stages of Formation
Following are the stages of the Formation of our Congregation:-

Aspirancy (3 years)
It is a time of beginning discovery and discernment on the part of the candidate, as io well as on the part of the community and to aspire to join in order. The length of time of Aspirancy will be 3 years. During the years of Aspirancy the Candidate will do +1 & +2 along with her basic spiritual exercises and formation.

Postulancy
A "postulant" meaning "one who asks," discerns with the community whether or not she is called to this form of life. Postulancy marks the formal entrance into the life of the community.

Novitiate (2 years)
The Canonical Novitiate is defined by the Church as a time of intense formation with the sole purpose of preparing for a vowed life. This time is a deepening of her life of prayer within the unique spirituality of the community.

First Profession - Temporary Vows
At the conclusion of the novitiate, a sister professes vows of chastity, poverty and obedience, known as the evangelical counsels. Formation continues during this temporary vows as the sister strengthens her life of union with God and her belonging to the institute. The sisters more fully participate in the mission of the co during these years of temporary vows.

Final Commitment - Perpetual Vows
Perpetual profession of the vows of chastity, poverty, and obedience constitutes a radical commitment for life which determines all subsequent choices.

On-going Formation
The formation journey continues throughout the life of a woman; religious formation ensures that she continues to grow in her life of prayer, and love of her Congregation, through self-evaluation, study, and community experiences provide formation programs appropriate to the various stages of life.

We actively participate in the pastoral activities of our parish. Teaching catechism, visiting families, bringing Holy Communion to the sick, etc. are some of our activities in the parish. Our sisters are working as animators of the St.Vincent De Paul-Women wing, Sodality, Mission League, Christeen, KCYM, which are the pious associations of children and youth.
