Superior General

To know the origin of our congregation- Augustinian sisters of the most Holy Annunciation - we haveeto go back to the bigning of the XIV century and exactly 1528 Jannury 28, when Maria di Jacopo Fantozzi, a devot widow filled with charity and love of God opened an "Asylum for the poor" to care for the plague victim at San Giovanni Valdarno in Italy. But later Maria di Jacopo, along with other women who had collaborated in her charitable work during the plague epidemic period constituted a cloister community and adopted the rule of Saint Augustine by the name of Agostinian sisters of the Most Holy Annunciation.

Unfortunately, it was a time when Italy had to deal with heavy blows in the Second World War 16th Century'. During that period many parts of our monastery were burnt down and our valuable documents were destroyed by the soldiers, resulting in the loss of all information and pictures about our founderess Maria Jacopo Fantozzi.
